[Essay - Dark Signer Shiroko]

Dark Signer Shiroko

-- General overview/history
One of the five chosen warriors of the Earthbound Gods, is the curious and odd Futaba Shiroko. A top ranked student of Duel Academia, Shiroko is one of the more bizarre choices perhaps of the Dark Signers. The child of a former successful Salaryman turned Garage Mechanic and a luxury and elitist obsessed housewife, Shiroko would sound like a fairly normal Upper Middle Class Japanese Child of the 1990s, if not for the fact that shortly after her parents' divorce around her Seventh Birthday, she suffered a mental breakdown due to a rather disturbing sexual assault by a gang in Tokyo.

The resulting trauma of the assault compounded by the stress of the divorce caused Shiroko to mentally crack at the seems and for the majority of her life, live it as two people: Futaba Shiroko, a cold unfeeling but gifted Academic Elite; and Kurochi Shiyoko, a sensually oriented and roughhousing tomboy with a passion for violence, swearing and alochol.

Due to stressors from Duel Academia, mostly the fault of a botched psychiatric treatment and stress from Erland Eusebius, she has further developed two more personalities: Shimofuri Shinoko, a child-like personality with an unreliable age, and Sobuchi Shihoko, a sexually uninhibited and bored 24 year old woman. For several months, she lived managing between the desires of these personalities.

However, she was recently killed by Desdemona, the human alias of the present day Black Rose Dragon, one of the 5 dragons of legend. However, by the divine prank of the wicked god, Aslla Piscu, she was granted a new lease on a disturbed half life as a Dark Signer.

While Futaba Shiroko hasn't told anyone, due to her death, she believes it has erased the technical personalities of Shiyoko, Shihoko, and Shinoko, as she can no longer hear them.

-- State of the 3 Other Personalities
Disassembled/Burnout from death and Aslla Piscu's efforts to torment and control his Dark Signer into becoming a living weapon. Shiyoko had too much honor, Shihoko had too many qualms, while Shinoko wouldn't be able to grasp what Aslla Piscu wants and would just want to hug the giant hell hummingbird.

-- "Overload"
When Shiroko enters her Dark Signer 'mode', due to her emotionally instability and mental fragility, her mind goes into an overclocked state, where the combined additudes and emotions of all of her four personalities. Due to this mixture, her temper goes through the roof, making her easily jealous, quick to anger, and capable of suffering immense emotional moodswings, as well as being extremely self serving, egotistical, and... having a very child like view of "NOW".

Part of the reason this happens is the Earthbound God influences her towards listening to it and her impulses. While very proud and vain in most if not all of her personalities, Shiroko ultimately has a firm grasp of being responsible and attempting to plan towards the future (Duel Academia has not made this easy, but she does try.). The resulting overclocked mode results in a destruction of any conception of the world beyond here and now, rendering her extremely spoiled and irresponsible. Mostly at this point due to the overwhelming combination of emotions and reactions.

And due to the need to force all the emotions to working at once, the personality is ultimately run by "Clerk", the remains of the original Futaba Shiroko. Overwhelmed by emotions and knowledge of what happened to her, this "Prime" state increases to desire to be the one, only, and singular personality in her head, never having to rely on fragmenting into other selves to deal with life.

Unfortunately, due to the incredible mental stress this overclocking produces, despite even Aslla Piscu's efforts, she cannot remain in this state for any more than 12-24 hours without it crashing and her turning back into the fragment Futaba Shiroko, who is immediately overwhelmed by guilt. Due to the stress produced by this state or personality, Shiroko has incredible trouble recalling what occured while she is in this state.

But, it is highly possible that the more she goes into her Dark Signer state, the more permanent and stable it becoms, but this may also result in a flaredown of her tempeer, and a possible increase in her intelligence quotent while in this state, which... despite all its efforts, is lower than the other four personalities, at current.

-- Deck
Ultimately, Shiroko's Dark Signer deck is an exhasterbated and overpowered version of her regular deck, Iron Chains. One of Shiroko's major frustrations is despite the premise of the Iron Chains: An aggresive styled Deck Destruction Deck featuring balanced cards, but it lacks the strength and potency to work as an actual Deck Destruction strategy consistently enough without resorting to unreliable Flip Effect Monsters, Continuous Spells and Normal Traps that while strengthing the deck, would weaken the overall deck. The Gehnna Symphonia take Shiroko's desire of the decktype and boosts it, as some people say, to 12. As well, it takes the ace cards of Shiyoko (Beast King Barbaros), Shihoko (Shadow Ghoul), and Shinoko (Naturu Gaodrake) and turns them into disturbingly twisted forms. As well, to make itself useful, Aslla Piscu's weilder's deck floods the opponent's field with tokens.

Themeatically, the Gehenna Symphonia take the Iron Chains and bend them to hell, while also incorporating music, something Shiroko has been raised to since childhood. But unlike her mother's instruction to classical music, the Gehenna Symphonia aim more towards Shiroko's repressed and underrepresented interest in Rock and Roll music, something her mother taught her to scorn.
